The PGM in Practice: The Baboon Business Box pt. 2
Adapted from the Binding Spell of Astrapsoukos (PGM VIII.1-63)
In this series, I offer adaptations of PGM spells that have worked well for me, to help make the PGM more accessible to modern practitioners. Please do not feel confined to using my spells as written, just as you should not feel constrained by the original text. Simply embrace the creative spirit of those ancient sorcerers, take inspiration if you will, and start enchanting! This part of 2 of my mini-series on the Binding Spell of Astrapsoukos.
If you are looking to kickstart a new business venture, or have a particular project that you want to bring in extra income, then this spell may be of use to you. It can also help you get work and/or attract clients. I recently used it to help me pick up agency work and I have been booked every day I desired to work so far. I view this spell as giving the spirits attached to the box a helping hand and a clearer focus. When using the box, I would certainly specify your needs but allow the ways in which those needs are met to be decided by the spirits (i.e. don’t say ‘I need this specific grant.’ Say ‘I need enough money to do X’).
You will need:
Money drawing oil
A 7-day candle of a colour/type you find appropriate – I like to use an ‘Egyptian Fast Luck Money Drawing Candle.’ I will put a link to where you can buy those below.
Saffron
Cinnamon
Oak bark
Orange blossom
Orange paper, or any other nice paper that you like to use for magic.
A pen that is only used for magic
A suitable incense – money drawing would be my choice
Fireproof coaster
The Method:
Prepare yourself and your magical space however you prefer.
Light the incense.
Conjure the herbs, instructing the spirits in their purpose:
Saffron – to bring riches
Cinamon – to heat things up, make them go, and to make your work seem attractive
Oak bark – to give your business roots and strength
Orange blossom – to make your work attractive to clients and to sweeten said clients towards you
Present the herbs to the four directions, calling on them to work with Hermes, Lord of the Crossroads, to bring blessings from all directions.
Write your specific petition on the orange paper.
Fold it up with some of the herbs inside and place it in the box.
Hold the box over the incense and recite the invocation to it while gazing at it as one would a lover.
Take the candle and anoint it with the oil, then load it up with a couple of pinches of the herbs.
Anoint yourself with the oil.
Place the fireproof coaster on top of the box, and the candle on top of that. Then, place your hands over it and chant Hermes’ name until you feel a strong sense of his presence, and that the spell has been empowered.
Light the candle intoning “Hermes, Hermes, Hermes, work my spell and fulfil my petition, immediately, immediately, quickly!”
Give thanks to the powers you have called and close down the space.
Burn the candle down to the end, keeping it on top of the box. If you need to extinguish the candle for safety reasons, then simply repeat the incantation from step 11 when you extinguish it and when you relight it.
When you feel the spell has done its work, take the petition out of the box and burn it, holding the box over the smoke while reciting the invocation for a final time.
I hope you have found this article helpful; I would love to hear from anyone who has either used my methods or has other ways of working with this spell.

A box much like the one I describe, made and consecrated by the brilliant Alison Chicosky. I cannot recommend her work highly enough!
